Can anyone please tell me what freshwater fishing is like in New Zealand?

Can someone fill me in, I’m thinking about moving and I love to fish for Bass, and Muskie… I know these fish don’t exist there but is there anything alike? Are there any Ranger or Nitro type fishing boats availiable there(low in the water bass style)? I know trout fishing is good, but what else freshwater, preferably top lure. thanks

I’ve got a friend who moved there not too long ago. He says fishing there is great but the species are almost all slightly different then you’d get in the Americas or Europe. Also the seasons are reversed so fishing dates are very different. Ocean fishing is amazing in the entire region. Freshwater, especially trout is great, but there is a good bit of topwater as well. My friend is in Northern NZ, so things may differ further south.
