Do I need a class 2 or 3 hitch for my 18.5 bass fishing boat?

The hitch is to go on my 2000 GMC Jimmy.

I don’t know how much the boat weighs and need someone to give me a rough estimate.

Always go with a Class 3 hitch. It’s about the same price, and safer.

Class 3 hitch for a 2000 jimmy is 150 bucks at U-haul. They sell hitches. and its 6 bolts to install. If you’re not feeling handy, they do the work there too. And its a GOOD quality hitch.

18.5′ boat, might be near the upper limit of class 2 — you really don’t want to be at the upper limit – class 3 is plenty tough.

besides which those class 2 receivers look way too wimpy for a GMC.

it’s not about the boats weight it is about the lip weight is it a double axle or single I would go with the class 3 though gonna be just about the same price anyone and the extra money spent is worth the peace iof mind.
