How to make gelcoat on an old bass boat shine?

I am selling my 1990 bass boat this weekend. What is a quick way to make it really shine. I want to get the wet look on the gel coat. The shine doesn’t have to last more than a couple of days. I don’t have time to wet sand or wax it.

I have seen some other used boats that look like they have armor all or something on the gelcoat. It had just a slight oily residue, but it really made them shine. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • David B:

    Mop and Glo floor wax

If you don’t have time to compound and wax it, I’d try using a high gloss, floor polish on it. You can get a roller or rag, and wipe it on. It won’t last long, and probably look like he** after an hour in the water, but like you said, it on;y has to last for a couple of days. Try it on an inconspicuous spot first.

wipe it down with chinawood oil
