I was privileged to be able to attend the launching of the first of two new fireboats for the Fire Department New York on September 11, 2009. The boat being launched is named Three Forty Three – in memory of the 343 firefighters and paramedics who perished in the WTC attacks in 2001. You can find out more about these boats at nycfireboat.com These boats will replace the existing Fireboats which have been in service for over 50 years, most notably in their assistance on 9 Nice smooth launch.. be sure to turn up your bass speaker to hear the rumble as it rolls past!

I was going to go to this but my dad couldn’t get off of work in time but it’s nice to see such a big part of one of the biggest fire departments in the country come out of where i live.
Safeboats International in Port Orchard, WA is working on a smaller FDNY that may set a record as the fastest Fireboat in the country.

This is a great tribute to our fallen brave souls… I have sort of a vested interest in this boat. My son in law worked very hard on this project. Great job Matt! The boat looks great. You should be proud of your work, and the great things this fire boat will do in its future.

finally someone realizes that there were paramedics from fdny that died & honors them in their statements! GOD BLESS ALL 343 MEMBERS OF THE FDNY WHO DIED!, may this boat honor their sacrifice & see as little action as possible!
