Topwater Spro Frog in cold water

The water temp is only 56 degrees and I’m catching good bass on a topwater Spro Bronzeye Frog.

Pro Angler is desperate to try trolling crank baits for spawning Brown Trout. We thought we would film some of the stupid stuff we do to make our videos. Like, breaking up the ice. Make sure you look at the follow up video where we actually demonstrate catching fish.

    @corruptshun Im not really sure, but I think mainly because people usually will fish frogs around heavy cover, and if they get a bass, most likely the bass will run for the weeds. If you are fishing in heavy cover with 10 lb line, and the fish is 3 lbs and like 10lbs of weeds get on your line, that will be a disaster. Hope this helps. Tight lines

    @Coruptshun Thats a good question – any answers to this?

    @Coruptshun – Good question..?

  • pit1982:

    must be on a private pond or lake.

  • Coruptshun:

    May I ask why people use such high test on their frogs, I use 10lb and never have problems.

  • flukemstr:

    @Maxlife441 The only thing I do to them is trip the legs about 1/2 an inch

  • flukemstr:

    @TheBassmaster27 Both, but I have more confidence in the Bronzeye Frog

  • flukemstr:

    @colehavens I think that’s 30lb Power Pro Braid

  • colehavens:

    What kind of line do you use?

  • jekyllhyderacing:

    @jamesfboy89 I guess you’ve never used a Boga Grip.

  • jamesfboy89:

    way to pull on the scale before you said the weight….

  • TheBassmaster27:

    Do u just use the bronze eye or do use the popping frog to

  • Maxlife441:

    Do you modify your frogs at all with weight or tube rattles if not try it it makes a big difference on stained or cloudy water

  • jigman61:

    Wow! By far the best frog video I have seen. Good job. Way to whack em. Temperature does not matter if conditions are right. Where are you fishing? I’m from California. Frog country(Clear Lake and the Delta). The water you are fishing looks a little tannic colored. The area you are in looks like heaven to me. Patrick

    never really tried the v hull boats there gator tought flatbottoms are really nice they are al weld we use it many times in gulf and rides smoothe never had any problems

  • ProAnglers:

    Yes.. we own two and both have really bad hull designs. The hulls fail when used in rough water. 7 G3 Pro’s have been screwed by G3 over failed hulls. Big story here if someone want to write one.

  • CRDLIBERTY:

    Does the g3 boats really suck that bad?

  • ProAnglers:

    Ahh..it’s much worse than that. 6 pro’s in the last 5 years have returned their boats for broken front struts. When you pound them, the nose starts to sag and they leak from all hull joints. They do have problem getting on a plane due to the hull design. The hull cavitates. The splash rail is also poorly placed. You get soaked in rough water. All the cabinets leak, gas tank vent draws water, electrical system grounds and frys all the time, charging system poorly designed… I could go on and on.

  • lundprov1900:

    haha yes yes lund are the greatest…i’ve heard bad things about G3 like not being about to lift outta the water and recalls on there boats..

  • ProAnglers:

    I’m no defender of G3 but in fact all the loose rivets that existed in the hull before this adventure were Pressed by the ice which resulted in the hull being in better condition. On the glass boat issue, I own a glass Lund (Pro-V) and I would never use that boat in 3″ of ice. Unless I feel like re-coating the entire hull. Plus..when you pull a stunt like this… you pick the G-3 for a failure test..not the Lund!!

  • lundprov1900:

    i would rather be in a glass boat because aluminum rivets will get ripped out but i guess thats all a G3 is good for…

  • ProAnglers:

    Thanks! Believe it or not. The boat actually ran better after we did that. Seated all the rivets on the bottom.

    The video showing the fish we caught is coming soon. 30 nice Browns from the hole we made.

  • tinboats:

    That is awesome!

    Whatever it takes to go fishing LOL!
