What is the most economical brand of boat for fishing and light recreation?

I am looking for something that is not a bass boat (large platform), not a pontoon boat, just some type of V-hull, typical recreational boat – 2 passenger minimum. Just looking for brand names that have a good size lineup of boats; Mirrocraft is one such brand, but looking for other comparable brands; on a tight budget, but would like to buy new or very lightly used, and need a place to start…. thanks!

There are a LOT of excellent brands, personally I have a Lund and I couldnt be happier. Dont lock yourself into one brand, rather look for features in your price range. If you can hold off, fall is an excellent time to buy. Good Luck and Happy botaing.

Whether you’re on a budget or not, I’d not buy anything until I checked out Lund and Tracker because both offer a full line of excellent, extremely sturdy, aluminum hull boats that rival or better anything on the market in performance, price, and long-term warranty. Lund (also offered through Cabella’s) and Tracker (also offered at Bass Pro Shops) both specialize in “package deals” that include boat, motor, trailer, and other options at a price far below individual component cost. While motor horsepower or options upgrades can be made at a reasonable price increase, the basic package is always a great performer. I believe that I recently read where Tracker is lately selling almost as many boats in the US as all other manufacturers combined; but shop around and compare for yourself.
