What to Look for When Purchasing Boat Tarps
What to Look for When Purchasing Boat Tarps
You have just bought a new bass boat, pontoon boat, or speed boat. After you get home from the lake, you will need a way to store it. Perhaps you do not have a garage available just for your boat. You can use boat tarps and store your boats outside. Look for the best heavy duty tarps for the job.
When you purchase tarps, think about getting white tarps. The white poly material will reflect the sun to keep the surfaces of your boat from fading. The sun can also be drying to any leather seats or trim in the boat’s interior. White tarps are not only highly reflective; they also look sharp and neat on your boat. Look for tarpaulins with U.V. treatments.
While the sun is drying, weather can sometimes be very wet. You might live in a climate that is often rainy, sometimes snowy, or can be both. In any of these cases, you will need waterproof tarpaulins. Your boat tarps will keep the moisture from soaking cloth seats, if that is what is in your boat.
No matter what kind of boat you have, you will want a waterproof tarp to keep rain out of the floor of the boat. Otherwise, standing water can stain, mildew, and even warp the floor of the boat. Waterproof boat tarps keep the precipitation out.
It is important that the grommets on your tarps be rust-free. If they are not, you will have rust spots and lines on the sides of your boat. These tarp grommets should be fairly close together, about every 18 inches. This allows you to keep the boat covered well so that no wildlife can get under the tarpaulin and destroy your boat’s interior.
Try to find tarpaulins that have hems reinforced with poly ropes. This helps you get a good tight cover cinched around your boat. It also makes the tarp more durable. Plus, without the poly ropes the tarpaulins will flap in the wind and pucker from the strength of the tie-downs.
Browse for heavy duty tarps with high mesh count. 14 by 14 mesh count is a good choice. A good poly material, preferably 3-ply, is best for boat tarps because canvas tarps will let in water. The best tarpaulins are rot proof, acid resistant, and mildew resistant.
When you have found suitable tarpaulins for your grownup toys, you will be able to keep them in good shape. You have spent the money to buy the boats that please you. It only makes sense to get heavy duty tarps to cover them and keep them

Start of a Bass tournament on the Vaal river just outside Johannesburg. Our boat was doing 70mph(112km/h) the others ahead of us well over 75-85mph. we don’t have limitations on engine size, so some boats are equiped with 250hp engines on 17ft boats…….crazy
