How do you reel in fish in fisherman’s bass club for ps2?

i got this game, well my aunt got it for me, and i reel in a couple of fish but i also get a lot of line breaks. anyone know how to reel fish in easier (big ones)?

I have the controller that looks like a fishing rod. So I just reel them in fast or slow. I don’t know how to even use the PS2 controller with that game. You should get the rod controller. It works great with that game.
