sounds like a great question for Arizona Fish and Game….

probably because the biggest rock bass known to record was 3lbs. And small and largemouths are bigger and funner to catch.

    States only stock gamefish

Although rock bass are “fun to catch”, especially for kids, they are very prolific and do not need to be stocked. They reproduce all that they need all by themselves. Stocking species like this could create an imbalance in the fish population and could negatively affect your fishing in the lakes you fish. Some folks or “bucket biologists” think they are helping by transporting their favorite fish to their favorite fishing hole. This is not only illegal, it would likely compromise the fishery that is intended. I recommend leaving the fish stocking to the professionals in your area. I’m sure they would be glad to discuss fish management issues with you if you give them a call sometime.
