Is Yahoo Answers smothering Free Speech?

I got kicked for random words… Iwas “reported” for writing “DUMB BASS”. Why would Yahoo kick me for not liking a fish? Was some fish out there offended? I mean I could start reporting violations indiscriminately for all pro Republican posters, but where is the discussion in that?

  • I got suspended. I'm mad.:

That is very true.. I got suspended for telling a mother that she was not fit to be a mother… (in meaner terms)

    WE REBEL!

Because you have the thought processes of a 7th grader.

Some people might think that it is, but you do understand that there are children on here too, right? I mean….what if a little 10-yr-old doing his science project gets told that he’s an idiot? Well, using stronger words of course, but…you know what I mean. Anyway, some kids might not have heard those words before and I don’t think that their parents would appreciate it.

Yahoo is a private entity, you aren’t entitled to free speech on it. When you joined you agreed to abide by certain terms, if you violate them, they have the right to delete the comments.

If you want free speech, you can always start your own web site and say whatever you like.

Yahoo does have too many criteria for violations however they need some because otherwise it would be a free for all & most people would simply be driven off in disgust. That said Try “Appeal a Violation” in Forum “random words” is not a violation that I’ve heard of It sounds like a Troll.

Y! is a publicly-held company that is not subject to government regulations of any kind. Answers, and other services in the vast Y! network, are governed by a set of rules called the Community Guidelines and the Terms of Service. These very rules, which we users have to adhere, will make sure free expression doesn’t thrive here. This is not a form of censorship; rather, a way to put users on notice after they posted content that violates the CG’s and TOS. Free speech doesn’t thrive here, period. I suggest that you read up on the rules to avoid making more mistakes like it in the future.

Wake up and smell your own.

Yaho has set a program to look for works and phrases that do not meet a set of rules set and published. The program will kick many things that are harmless just because of thepossible implication. The phrase you used is often used to get past the senser of the program. Drop the B on the second word and you have it.

No you were most likely not reported by any individual. It was the computer program that did it to you.

You can say anything you like if you choose your words carefully. Then you wuld have to know many words to be abe to do this.

It happens to me as well but I just ignore it. If I want to get the point across then I rephrase ad most of the itme no problem.

No one is picking on you. You are not as important as you think you are. None of us are on this site.

This is NOT a discussion site, it’s a question and answer site.

Click the link to the Guidelines and read them.

If you don’t want to follow them, stop using this site, go elsewhere on the web. You agreed to abide by them when you signed up, that’s the deal.

Indiscriminately reporting others will get you banned from all Yahoo services.
