keep the weight bumping along the bottom, do a slow retrieve.

Brush piles are good places to fish Carolina rigs. Work the lead to the brush pile and stop it. The worm or lizard will slowly fall and often draw the bass out. If that does not work, pull the lead over the brush and let it fall to the bottom. Then stop it. The following worm will sink slowly and is often more than the bass can stand.
Also try the above with a floating worm. Imagine the worm floating up off the bottom rather than settling to it. That will drive a bass wild.
i try to use a carolina rig off main lake points with dropoffs or channels next to them.i cast to the point and work my bait down and through the channel or dropoff.
a carolina rig can be used a faster retrieve than a texas rig.
i prefer to use a lizard or brush hog on a carolina rig.seems that these baits have more action than just ur plain ol worm.
The only thing I would add is to use the glass beads (or other noise makers) for what they are for…whenever I hit a piece of cover or just in random…I will shake the line to make the “click, click” sound with the beads and sinker…it sounds like a crawfish…my basic set up for the C-Rig, which I use to use all the time, but now I am stuck on the Shakey Head, is a foot to 15in leader with the hook of your choice…I use a 2/0 Gami extra wide gap…a barrel swivel, two red glass beads (just my preference in color…others will work) and a 1/4 to 1/2 oz (depending on how deep I am fishing) egg sinker…egg sinkers should be used for lakes with a lot of rocks and a bullet sinker used for a lake with a lot of grass…but I use egg sinkers all the time now…I use either a Zoom Trick Work, Zoom Finesse Worm, a Zoom Lizard, or a Zoom Utail Worm on my C-Rigs…color and type depends on the lake…I may not use the C-Rig as much as I use to, but I always have one tied on…always…in my opinion they work best on points and humps, but can be use pretty much anywhere…hope this helps…
