Bass fishing in Arizona,?

Its early April, and I thought what would be more fun then to pack up, go down to the local lake and catch some bass. We’re going to be fishing off the shore, and I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips to ensure at least some bites to excite my little brother. I heard the texas rig is best to use late spring, but I wanted to ask just in case.

opinions please!!!

Although I have never fished in Arizona I would think it to be no different then most any southern state when it comes to bass fishing. These are the baits on my home waters that are producing some good catches of bass right now–A spinner bait in the 1/4 ounce size in most any color will produce. Bass should be in the shallow water right now and the spinner bait works well in the shallows. But a Zoom Paddle tail worm hooked up Texas Style and fished weightless is the top producer right now in most any color. The Trick is to retrieve it in slowly with light twitches of the rod tip to produce a life like action.Watch the action of the lure and see what it takes as you twitch the rod tip to make the lure seem alive. A Zoom Baby Brush Hog fished with a sliding sinker on the line is catching well also if the grass is no too bad where you are fishing at.Rig all the plastics Texas style with a 3/0 or 4/0 light wire hook such as an H&H hook. If the bass are biting, they will hit one of these 3 lures. Good luck!

Look shallow. Pre-spawn fish, spawning fish, and post-spawn fish could all be available. Just to get some strikes, I’d start off with a reaction lure. Willow/Colorado combination blade Spinnerbait w/ a bright skirt for muddy-water and a more “plain” skirt for clear water, in 1/4oz or 3/8oz.

If you find some fish chasing or you miss a few, think slower. Texas-rig a 4″ or 5″ Senko weightless and pitch it at the fish. I’ll guarantee you they’ll inhale the Senko if they’re not getting the Spinnerbait down enough.
