@smileyj206 thanks for the advice brotha! i’ll make sure to keep you posted on what happens. tight lines!

I’d fish slow with a 4 or 6 inch junebug trick worm on a split shot. W/O knowing the waterway you’re fishing, that is probably the #1 finesse lures in Florida. Those fish can get real tough to catch during winter cold fronts. Fish in the weeds a lot with a light weight split shot rig (real light weight) and you should catch fish if they are there. Good luck.

Hey brotha great vid. I’m having some trouble catching fish in some of my local canals here in miami florida. It’s a little cold so i figure the bass will be finnicky but man its like no matter what lure i use in w/e situation or condition, i cant seem to catch any. Any recommendations?

ha. thnx for the replyy.. i used a crankbait and goaght tons of small bass.. but what i also found out was the bass in this pond liked ta jig with a 3 in. fat grubb on it.. very effective

Personally I carolina rig a lot in the winter time. General rule is the shallower the shorter the leader and deeper the longer. In water clearer than 5 feet, I think a lot of guys use a 3′ or longer leader. Good luck!

When you fish your Carolina rig in the winter, do you go for shallow water maybe up to 10 feet, or deeper water? Also, how long do you typically make your leaders? Great video, too! Never been a big winter fisherman, but I have some tournaments coming up soon and need to figure out what I’m doing.

what are some quality bass lakes in the huntington beach and surrounding area that are free to go to?

  • smileyj206:

    Thanks partner…

    Thanks buddy…

Its tough to say w/o knowing the pond, but I’d try a crank around any rocks, senkos around shallow wood (especially on sunny days). In small ponds you generally don’t need to get too technical. Senkos, drop shots, split shotting, shallow crankbaits should be all you need in the winter there. Fish super slow… Good luck buddy..

  • smileyj206:

    Yes.

  • marcer7:

are you in the SoCal area?

  • MrSexydude21:

what bait would you reccomend for a small pond in winter?

  • smileyj206:

Depending on the body of water, that would work great too. I use a carolina rig lizard a lot in the winter on certain lakes.

  • ballafishie:

fir the winter do fish like big baits like 7inc lizzards.

  • brzic93:
