Can my 6′ medium action glass rod work with a texas rig for bass?

I have been fishing for bass for a while now and have caught a few on spinnerbaits but none on a texas rig. I would like to know two things tips on how to fish it and will this rod work. I just bought a medium heavy would that work? thanks for your help

yes, throw a medium dare devil red/white fight into the lillie pads or cover your fishing! you have enough stick to pull it out if it snags…

Your rod will work fine with a Texas rig. Although a medium/heavy would be better. Use the heaviest line recommended for your set-up. The Texas rig is a good shallow water presentation. Some common mistakes (guilty) are using a hook that is too small for the bait (the “J” of the hook should be two and a half times the width of the worm IMO) and leaving the barb buried too deeply into the bait. The secret to fishing this rig is to get almost on top of the fish, so approach quietly. Use short cast (you’ll notice the pro’s “flip” them) and don’t overwork the bait. Try letting it lay still for ten to thirty seconds and give it just a tiny twitch to encourage a strike. Don’t try to set the hook right away. When you feel the strike give the fish some slack by pointing the tip of the rod right at him. Count to five, reel in the slack and hook him…HARD! If you don’t fling a small one right over the boat once in a while you’re not setting hard enough. Also try a Carolina rig as well, it’s a similar rig and is fished much the same, but works better if the bottom cover is so thick that the Texas rig disappears into it.
