It does work, but its not a miracle cure. Its just another ‘lure’ to have in your tacklebox. Most of the time you need to cast and retrieve these kind of baits. Jig heads of various kinds work well to deliver the powerbait. You can also rig a worm on a bare hook and fish it that way.

You need to experiment with different sizes and colors to find what works for what you’re after. For bass, you should try the crawfish imitations or the froglike ones and try to retrieve accordingly.

I’ve had so much success with Powerbait here lately it’s unreal. I could do a commercial for it. I truly believe that scent and taste is irresistible to fish. I’m saying this because, my recent fishing trips have been real successes, and I’ve been using Powerbait. I haven’t used it in the Mississippi River yet, so I can’t help with the “rivers/streams” part. I can tell you though, after rears of swearing by Zoom and Yum, I could use nothing but Powerbait for the rest of my life!

It depends, for me I had more success on lures

i first used Powerbait on the Missouri River just east of Helena, Mt. i had the “Walleye” variety. i casted lures for about an hour and hooked one small walleye. i had to walk back to the car so i picked up my bait rod and spotted some yellow foam rubber i put on treble hooks to keep them from hooking together. i put the 3/4 inch ball of foam rubber on a hook, soaked it with Powerbait and cast in. no lure, no worm, nothing but foam rubber & Powerbait. i returned in 10 or 15 minutes later and my line was moving upstream from where i casted. i set the hook and 5 minutes later i had a 6 3/4 lbs rainbow trout. it was 28 1/2 inches long and probably 3 1/2 inches thick across the back. it has not worked magic for me in the Yellowstone River but i will always talk about the Missouri River rainbow i caught on foam rubber.
