  • Backwater Charlie:

As far as I know there is no “Plastic” line.

However, there are 3-main types of fishing line. Them being mono-filament, braid, & fluorocarbon. Each one serves a purpose.

For your fishing, I would use 30-pound Power Pro Braid, with a leader of at least 17-pound Mono or Fluorocarbon.

A Buck-Tail would be a good lure choice.

Whats plastic line? whats regular line? Are you talking about flouro/mono and braided line? I never thought stripers were to sensitive to the line i’m using, so i’d go with braid.

No, they will not “rip the line”. ripping line just means they’ll run with the hook and take a lot of line out of your spool if you have your drag set, which you should.

    Correct lure? Bucktails are good.

I find that fresh mussels, shucked right before you put them on your hook are good bait for stripers. Make sure you don’t cast them off, they’re delicate.

If you going for big stripers, live bait like a mullet is good.
