any tips?

  • Tracy J:

I use a topwater when I am fishing off a dock for Bass. Some kind of popper or spook. The reason I do this is because the water is shallow in these spots and if the bass are up shallow they are most likely eating.

  • Fishguy:

Try moving to the shore next to the dock and throw some spinnerbaits and plastic worms near the pylons.

  • Anni:

Just like you would off of a boat but you won’t be maneuverable. Use your favorite lure or bait.

  • Brandon:

During the day bass will often hide in the shade up under docks. I try and cast parallel to the dock as close as I can get it. I like to use soft plastics during mid day fished slowly .

If its a relatively unused dock I try to walk quietly as I can off the dock so I dont spook the fish away .

I caught a nice bass while bluegill fishing from a dock. I was reeling in a small bluegill and a nice bass came out from under a dock and ate my bluegill

  • fallruns:

Jigging with some artificial baits in the mid mornings, afternoons with grubs, worms ect… Try topwater action bait in the early mornings.

Yes. Move off the dock to a spot that you can cast (or skip your lure) underneath it where you are likely to get bit. Throw a Texas rigged tube bait (Gitzit) with a 1/8 ounce weight on a spinning rod spooled with 6 or 8 pound test. Odds are you will be successful with this approach.

Brandon & Exert are totally right.

Also, If you are allowed to fish 2 rods at the same time in your area, I would have a shiner under a cork. Throw lures with 1 rod & have a 6 inch shiner on the other!

    Your bound to catch something!!!!

    Good luck!
