The fish did not die. They went to deeper water during the winter. As for fishing tips, I would try live minnows or crayfish if you can get them. If you cannot get them, try plastic worms or live worms rigged texas style. This works very well on bass. You can also try shad imitators, crank baits, and live worms with a spit shot. With these, try fishing around any type of structure, like submerged trees and stumps, lily pads, docks, points on lakes, among others. As for if its legal, I do not know the local laws, but I think it still would be illegal because May is the bass spawning season, which makes them 75-100% easier to catch. I also know that in the U.S it is illegal to fish during the spawning season in some places. Google Canadas fishing laws and you will come up with a site that can tell you.( I tried but my internet is slow right now)

    Hope this helps!!!

    I think you’re just stupid.

  • The Bill Dance of Bluegills:

Bass don’t die in the cold. You deserve BFB’s answer (thumbs) but no don’t fish if you’re lake has a fishing season, and it’s not in yet. That’s against the law.

    Happy fishing.

  • The Wormist:

l think you’re just a 14 yo kid that is not stupid, otherwise you wouldn’t have asked. that is a perfectly reasonable question. many fish DO die in winter.
you just need to spend a lot more time on the water. the answer to your other question will be found in your fishing regulations.

and there are few laws if any down here to protect bedding bass. if that were the case, all the tournaments would just close up shop. also, yes, spawning is about completed everywhere down here except in the extreme north and up into canada.

try dragging a jig thru their nests to goad them into striking. use some polarized glasses to locate the nests. use a white jig so you can see and follow it easier. don’t wait to set the hook when one picks it up. all they want to do is chase or remove it from the nest. they will not hold it long before dropping it.

    good luck.
