Good Spots in Shinn pond for bass?

I regular go to Shinn pond in california to fish but I always end up catching catfish. Does anyone know any good techniques for bass fishing there or a good spot to catch bass.

Note: I fish at both ponds

Add a couple more specific things about the lake.

Bass move day to day. One day they could be in 4-5 ft of water and the next day they could be in the deepest part of the lake/pond.

Another words, you should set ya trolling motor on low and ease as slow as possible all over the pond. When you catch a fish try and remember what you was doing with the lure. For instance: Was you working it slow/fast. Was you bouncing it or was you just pulling it. Every little detail that you put into Bass fishing could help you, even when you don’t think it can.

I have never fished in California but I know when fishing a new pond or lake that I have never fished before I will start out using one of two things. Crankbaits or Spinnerbaits. The more water that you can cover the better, espcially when you know nothing about the place you’re fishing.

    Good luck!

I have fished all these Bay Area ponds for as long as I can remember. One of the things that has worked reliably for me for hella years is a 5/8 or 3/4 big blade white spinner bait. I typically remove the white grub and replace it with like one of the Berkekey MotorOil Marmalade green colored lizards.

Try it, you almost can’t go wrong. Just fish it slow to med speed with tugs and not jerks.

Do you catch catfish in the pond behind niles school?

Try a mini jig. Walk along the edge of the pond by the cement wall where the minnows are and they will bite in the morning or late evening!ive caught 2 like that!!

  • There are no boats allowed but the Stripers i hear get as big as 10lbs. Ive caught only small Smallmouth and Largemouth off roostertails. Becareful for people with their dogs in the water though.
    Good Luck!!
