Heading out fishing tomorrow morning…so help please!?

Im heading out to a relatively small pond tomorrow when I wake up and i need some advice on what i should use for bait. I have no live bait so basically If someone could tell me what i should use as as far as artificial stuff goes. I go to this little pond A lot and the water is always crystal clear and is not very deep. I see pretty decent sized bass swimming in there all the time. Is there anything in particular i should use to catch them? certain technique? lure? and rig I should use? Im 16 and ive been fishing since i remember just in case anybody is wondering. I usually know what im doing…but its a new spot for me. So I would really appreciate some help. Thanks! I have almost every type of artificial baits out there…haha. So im not worried about not having the right kind.

any small pond is likely to be good fishing but mostly i would be very quiet when i approach the pond because unless it is used a lot the fish can l be skittish because they are not use to noise in clear water you would want a bait that is as natural looking as you can get also look around are there rocks weeds or other kinds of cover it will give you a clue to what the fish eat rocks = cray fish weeds and lilly pads= frogs ect
look for minnows swimming in the shallows if you see lots of them the fish most likely eat them
flys and poppers work good as do rubber worms if there are not many weeds spinners dare devels ect will work also
in a pond that is not fished much (unless there are pike or wallye) i would not use swivels or steel leaders but tie to the hook or crawler harness because the fish are most likely not use to seeing steel and will be wary of any thing unnatural looking don’t be surprised if it takes a while for the fish to bite on small ponds you may have to be very quiet and patient but on some if they are stocked with fish you may also be in for a great time and good fishing especially if not to many people fish it
    good luck and have fun

If it is that clear. Remember the fish can see you. If possible. Stand next to a tree or bush. Think I would try a Popper fist. Cast let set 1 full min. Jerk let set. Next I would go to a diver. Cast let set. 1 min Then work it in. Stay still. They can hear the vibration were you walk! + see you in clear watter. Use all your calm.

Do a ninja fishing, sneak on the fish without being seen. I would start out with a jerkbait, then crankbait and ofcourse a plastic worm fished slowly.

Well.. i would start out simple. Something like a soft plastic jig or spoon. It all depends on what you are looking for really and the conditions of the water. You don’t want to use anything with lips on it because you said that the pond is relatively shallow. Lips make baits dive. Jigs work great for bass, they are simple to use to as you should know. Happy fishing

  • Backwater Charlie:

Gary Yamamoto’s Senko (or any other Senko-type bait for that matter) is one of the best clear water lures for Bass I’ve found. I’d use the 4″ Senko-type worm (my favorite would be a white worm with silver and blue flakes) Texas rigged with a 1/0 EWG worm hook and NO other weight. Make a long cast and work the lure near the bottom.

  • DarkKing:

use small minnow lures or plastic baits.

  • Steve T:

use the noble nigthcrawwlers, or scan the water with an in line spinner,

  • Arthur:

full camo, a light step, light line and live crawlers. just flip them just outside the fish/structure. good fishing glasses a must too!
