help with bass fishing?
Ok, so there is a fishing tournament coming up this Saturday and I need help! I’m going to be fishing for bass and crappie. Does anyone have any techniques or fishing secrets if so please help! Only answer if you know what you’re talking about please.

Use live bait.
Catch the fish Friday evening, hope they stay alive until Saturday.
Well first when you cast it you must reel it in slowly so the fishing line is straight. when you feel a nibble, don’t pull just reel it in slowly for about a second then wait and see if the fish is still biting. If the fish is biting, keep reeling slowly for a second until it pulls hard. When that happens swing the fishing pole up hard and the fish will probably be stuck on the hook so just raise the pole high and reel it in.
This is almost an impossible question without knowing what area you are fishing. If you’re way down south somewhere the water is going to be pretty warm and fish will be spawning. If you’re not down south then the water will still be cool and fish will still be pretty slow moving.
I’ll make it short and sweet being that I don’t have the slightest clue where you’re at.
If the fish are spawning go with shad imitations or Texas rigged plastics in shallower waters with plenty of cover. Things like spinnerbaits, 7.5 inch worms/lizards, swimbaits, etc can all do well durring the spawn.
If fish aren’t spawning the water is obviously still a bit cool. You may try medium to deep diving crankbaits, Rattle Traps, Texas Rigged plastics (fished slowly), Drop Shot rigs, and jigs. In cool water I almost always start out throwing a jig, a 3/4 ounce is a pretty good all around size. If you do throw jigs be sure you have rattles equipped on them and a decently sized craw trailer matching the color of the jig.
If the water is clear try throwing lighter/natural colored baits. If the water is stained try throwing darker colored baits.
I work at Bass Pro Shops and you can never go wrong with a soft plastic when fishing for bass. Your best bets for worm types are gonna be finesse worms and tailed worms (I use Zoom U-tale worms). And what i always tell people when they’re trying to find a color is when in doubt, go green. Green worms work in just about any color water, but especially darker stained water. Chartreuse pepper is the best green color out there. As far as crappie fishing goes, theres several good jigs and grubs out there, but the best that i know of are Stubby Butt’s, Maribou jigs and Kalin Triple Threat Grubs. Bass Pro also makes one called a Triple Ripple grub.
For bass, use a rubber mouse or a mepps spinner. For crappie, use a small beetle spin, or even a teardrop ice fishing lure with a small minnow or worm.
