largemouth bass fishing on a new pond?

Just got access to a new pond and need help. the pond is 33 acres, 30ft deep, sandy bottom with some hydrilla. No real structure on the pond at all! i do pretty well with open water cranks with 3-5 ft lips.. I catch 1.5 to 2 pounder. but with 30 ft depths i can’t find the monsters.. this is a very healthy un-fished stocked pond.. any tips?

    Plastics. Plastics. Plastics.

    Texas rig or Drop Shot.

Try a 1/2oz jig with a trailer and work along the bottom. Also try a carolina rig worm on a 12-16 inch leader. Good luck I love tearing up ponds.

try a jig, topwater in the morning ( like buzzbaits, poppers) , spinners and some deep divers.

Try some worms. Watermelon red and junebug at night. Drag those at the bottom slowly.

Caroling rigged lizard could work too.

How about fly fishing for bass on the idea and go see what there eating and go for it too. Good luck to you on the idea too.

Sounds like a good time for a jig worm! Jig worms are this, a jig head, with a plastic worm on it! Use a 1/8 OZ jig head and put on a skinny 4″ worm. Depending on the color of the water, I would use a Green Pumpkin colored worm. Sandy bottoms are good places for jig worms. Pretty much fish it just like a Texas rigged worm. It’s pretty much a “Texas rig” made easy.

A compact jig ‘n trailer or a Texas rigged worm well work fine too.

You’re getting some good ideas here. For myself I would try a plastic worm. Try different colors. If you can toss it to an edge and slowly work it down the drop offs it should produce some great hits. Good luck.
