If it’s something a little livelier you need then head to Vilamoura or Albufeira with the ‘strip’ at Montechoro one of the liveliest areas in the Algarve. Lagos and the capital Faro have plenty of museums and monuments to show off the regions fascinating history.
Portugal is famous for its high quality golf courses and the rich and famous flock here all year round to play. You don’t need to be wealthy though as most courses are open to beginners and also offer lessons to all levels of competence.
Portugal holidays are also well known for their horse riding, with everything from dressage stables to riding for beginners. The beaches and surrounding countryside are perfect for an early morning gallop or leisurely trek.
Having always been a seafaring nation, no Portugal holidays would be complete without trying your hand at fishing. You can charter boats of join a trip to catch tuna, ray, mackerel, salmon bass and swordfish, again all levels are welcome.
Before setting off on your Portugal holidays its worth checking to see if there are any carnivals going on while you are there. The Portuguese are fiercely proud of their heritage and need no excuse to party. Festivals can be seen in most cities throughout the year and offer the chance for holidaymakers to join the locals in great celebrations and learn more about the country’s culture.
The Algarve has water parks, zoos, botanical gardens and funfairs plus jeep safaris that take you on a journey through the orange and lemon groves making sure there’s never a dull moment on Portugal holidays.
