Mudbugs…?

Over the weekend a buddy of mines gave me two Mudbug lures. He said that he never caught anything with them and since I was big on Bass fishing, that I could just have them at no cost.

One of them is red & sliver and the other is blue and sliver.

I have never used a Mudbug lure in all my 15+ years Bass fishing. Any tips on how to fish these things?

I have only caught a few bass on mine ever! I have used them with very good luck trolling in saltwater though!

I have caught smallmouth trolling them over rocky flats. One thing for sure is to use heavy (braided) line because those lures really dig down and snag the bottom in 15 ft depths.

    Edit:
Along with my “Mudbugs” are an assortment of Hellbenders and old Bomber 600′s. Even “back in the day” those things sucked. Mine are somewhere that only an archeologist will discover many centuries from now. All I can say is that friend of yours had a sick sense of humor. Thank goodness we now have Norman DD22′s.
    Best of luck!

My “Mudbug” has it’s own “home” in 1 of my tackle-boxes under tons of other cranks!! (lol)

I tried it once and it got caught/hung on every single cast, (lol). It’s a right “neat” looking lure that sure does “dig-in”. Probably would look good hanging out of the mouth of a replica-mount of a 12 LBer .

I think I might give mine away to someone who likes to Bass-fish. (lol)

Good fishing! Hope you have better luck!
