Quick fishing tips, really easy if you are a pro?
Okay this is about my 3rd year really fishing, my first year without a bobber, I have learned that trout hang out more at the bottom and I have been catching way bigger fish down there.. So I have a few questions
1. For trout what is better worms or good powerbait?
2. For bass what sorta bait do you use?
3. So with a spinner do you just toss it out and real back in slowely? I never understood that.
4. How deep are catfish? Do I go all the way to the bottom? And I have been catfishing with hotdog and worms will they work? I know some people use liver but I have no idea where to even look for that.

I don’t have much luck with Powerbait for trout not saying it doesn’t work just not for me, and if your using worms you might catch a bass or catfish too
For bass I use worms or minnows.
That’s how I fish a spinner, just fast enough to make the blade spin.
Catfish hang out on the bottom and I’ve caught them on hotdogs and worms before but I use raw bacon or liver most of the time. For liver go to Wal-Mart . Look by the raw chicken for chicken livers in a tub, grab some pantyhose to hold it on the hook, hook the liver wrap it in the pantyhose like a little bag.
Ok lets start from the top. It depends on what your after with the trout. Corn or powerbait or worms on a small hook with a spinner rig is good for decent numbers of trout. A little bigger hook and as many worms as you can fit on it is a good option if your lookin for a big fish. I prefer artificial baits though such as hair jigs, rapala countdowns and shad raps, and rattlin rogues. For bass the best live bait is a wild shiner if you live in an area where there are wild shiners. To catch them take a tiny hook and bobber with a tiny rolled up bread ball and bait an area with alot of vegetation with alot of bread crumbs to get some shiners to start feeding. when you catch one put it in a bucket and tie on a bass hook and hook it in the lips and use a bobber and wait til it gets eaten! Or you could get some hatchery shiners from a bait shop. But if You wanna use artificials the options are endless. Topwater plugs and frogs, plastic worms and lizards, spinner baits and jigs are all good. With a spinner bait you can just throw it out and reel it straight in or you can let it sink to the bottom and “slow roll” it by reeling just fast enough to get the blades turning. Or you can burn it in fast making it wake just beneath the surface. Just throw it near cover and try each retrieve til you find what the fish want that day. You can also “kill” it by reeling steady then stopping for a few seconds and letting it fall. This will often get you a reaction strike. As for catfish it depends on which type and when. In rivers they are in deep holes and scour holes in the bank in outside bends of the river. they will move shallow to feed at night. For channel cats use chicken livers from the grocery store or night crawlers or stink baitor hot dogs. unless your fishing a small pond then use a fairly heavy weight and fish on bottom. for blue cats use cut up fish for bait. And for flatheads use live perch or bluegill on a large circle hook with a 3 way swivel and the weight on the bottom so the bait is held in place about a foot off the bottom. hope this helps! If you have any other questions or didn’t understand something just get back with me and I will try and help. Good luck with the fishing!
1. Bring both powerbait and worms along.
2. There’s too many to list. I use a gazillion different bass lures. Most of the lures i use are soft plastics. I prefer the smaller sized Senko’s.
3. Yep. You cast and retrieve. The blade of the spinner will attract the fish.
4. Catfish eat on/near the bottom. Position your bait from 6 inches off the bottom to on the bottom. Yes worms and hot dogs work. Chicken liver can be bought from any grocery store from any meat aisle.
1. Trout love powerbait and bait that stinks, I use powerbait and spray this garlic fluid on it to inhance the smell. Crickets work good too.
2. For bass I like to use a lewer called a ” Rattle Trap “, it has good action and sound and the bass really go after it. I’ve also used worms, plastic worms ( 6 inch watermelon made by gulp ).
3. Yes, with a spinner you just cast it out and real it in slow and steady.
4. Catfish are bottom dwellers. I heard hotdogs are good to catch catfish but have never used them. My choice bait for catfish is chicken liver. You can buy chicken liver at your local meat department, if you dont see it ask a meatcutter.
I’m certainly not pro but i know the answers to your questions.
1. For trout what is better worms or good powerbait?
For me i think powerbait if better. it doesn’t die, wont smell bad if you forget it in your car and it’s shiny. of course worms are more natural for the fish to eat. i’d go with glittery powerbait.
2. For bass what sorta bait do you use?
A 2 inch rapala, thats medium depth with bright and shiny colors. think mines bright green and chrome. worms, minnows, clams, mussels, squid, and plastics also work well.
3. So with a spinner do you just toss it out and real back in slowly? I never understood that.
Slow enough for any fish that wants to bite it bite it. if you pull it in too fast nothing is going to be able to get a good bite on it. try reeling it in for 5 seconds and letting it rest and sink for 1.
4. How deep are catfish? Do I go all the way to the bottom? And I have been catfishing with hotdog and worms will they work? I know some people use liver but I have no idea where to even look for that.
Hotdog slices are ftw. for catfish it doesn’t need to be the very bottom but the surface wont work. i use a float , 3 feet down, my bait, half a foot down, a sinker.
