Shh, don’t tell my hubby…(fishing question)?
We have a couple different bodies of water near our house. Two major rivers and a small lake with an average depth of 12 feet. The lake is a trophy muskie lake. Everytime we go fishing my kids and I stay near shore catching blue gill, crappie, and an occasional bass. I would like to impress (actually outfish him one of these days) by catching a nice wall-eye or muskie. I have no idea what to use or how to do it…he is quite secretive with his big fish techniques! So…my question is “What pound line should i be useing, what kind of bait, where should i look, and do i have to have a steal leader for the muskies? (cuz i have no clue how to use those!)

too late i told your husband….
Can’t give you a specific answer as I don’t fish for either of those beasties, but your local bait and tackle shop can probably help–and I mean the local, not some chain sporting goods store, unless maybe it’s Orvis, and that can be iffy.
I’ve recently taken up fly fishing (trout, bass and crappie), and bought a book, Fly Fishing for Beginners, by Chris Hansen, that had some stuff about muskies.

go to the lake muskies are nice!use 10 to 20 lb test depending on how you want to fight the fish.yes, you need a steel leader just Tye it to the line like hook ,use live bait( frogs, mice, fish) hope this helps, good luck!
DONT WORRY WE CAN KEEP IT A SECRET
8 or 10 pound test will do fine. don’t let people talk you into 20lb spider wire if you let the fish fight and tire itself out first you can easily land one.
Mr. twister in either chartreuse or pearl white are the best colors for me. also try yellow and motor oil.
use a lead head hook for the Mr. twisters. also i have had luck on a large minnow (fathead/shiner)
you could put a steel lead it would only keep the fish from cutting the line with its teeth.
live in western PA, and damn proud of it < ((((><
