I’m still chasing my states record bullhead 5.4lbs and i have found that they like as many nightcrawlers as i can fit on a #6 hook. I catch alot of suckers on small trout hooks with a tiny bread ball or tiny chunk of nightcrawler. The only experience i have had with muskies is when i was bringing in a 12″ white crappie and this 5′ monster took him and bit 6# test in half.

your bass skills should do you well for the musky. just use bigger, sturdier stuff.
the bullheads are likely to give you the biggest difficulties with their specialized tackle requirements :
14, 15 foot cane (or glass/graphite) or longer pole.
15 – 20 feet of special “bullhead” line (plain mono works fine).
special “bullhead” size 2 or 4 aberdeen hooks.
hard to find special “bullhead” floats and weights (a cork is good, splitshots).
and special exotic, imported chicken livers for bait (from your local ‘piggly wiggly’).

and they ain’t many okie girls to impress up there in musky land.

Bullhead & Sucker fishing is very similar. All you need is a light action rod & reel. Suckers get pretty big but, i love the fight. I use a set up consisting of split shots, a hook, and a worm. Simple as that. I would recommend a 7′ light action rod, with a spinning reel filled with 120 yds. of 10 lb. mono.

    Happy fishing.
