What should i use for bass fishing?
I have always fished for catfish, and recently fished for bass for the first time. I thought it was really fun, but i need some help. Since i’m not very educated on techniques or gear, any suggestions will be helpful. I need a lot of help for what lures and bait to buy.
PLEASE INCLUDE PICTURES OR THE URL TO WEBSITES WITH LURES AND STUFF.
thank you

So much comes into play man…
Time of day, how bright it is outside, and more… At least that’s the way it is for me.
Your BESTEST bet, is to go to Academy or your fishing store whatever it may be and see what they’re sold out of (always works man). Or ask someone what’s selling the most, and when they’ll have a new shipment in.
In Louisiana, that’s how my dad keeps up to date on what’s the new sharpness… And the same way a lot of other people out there do it too.
The Academy there sometimes won’t even stock the bait. They’ll open the box on the ground and it’ll be empty by closing time.

This is a MUST!
I love it!
hey man there are many many many many many many many many many lures and techniques that you can use for going after the ol bass and what you will hear in all these answers will probably be right and what i say and what they say doesnt mean that those are the only and best ways to go after them. it really all depends on the techniques and methods that you like to use. you can use spinners, i like the double willow blades lures. they can be fished fast, slow, and they can be fished as a jig. this is a very versitile lure. it can be fished at all the different water levels.
this one below is the booyaa mini spinner. i really like this one because they target all sizes of bass. true enough that horsing in a huge bass is fun but the smaller ones can provide so much fun while you are waiting on the wall mounter

another method is the plastic worm. you can drop shot them, fish them texas rigged or carolina rigged, weightless and weighted. it is a very popular and effective way to fish, especially around structure and in water grass. i prefer the ribbon tailed worms. the color all depends on the water clarity of the body of water that you are fishin. hit up the local bait and tackle shops and they can tell you what color is selling the best. usually if you look on the shelves and the packages that has the least amount of dust on them that is the color that you use.
different color worms

there are a pile of colors out there and all of them work the trick is finding the ones that work for you

carolina rig

in my opinion i like the texas rig better. less knots and less equipment and weights.
another type of fishing i love to do is crank baits. i really like a 3 to 4 inch broke back minnow. just toss out and reel it in. this lure it very versitile and effective. after you get the hang of it you can change up your presention and slow it down or speed it up add a little twitch here and there. it is just a easy bait to use and it is effective in all kinds of waters, the color of the lure is just like the worms. need to get the color that works best in your neck of the woods

i introduced the broke back minnow to my wife and she took to it well and now that is all she uses.
man i will leave it at that, there are just so many types of lures and techniques that i dont believe that yahoo answers will allow me to type that much but for me those three things are the basic and effective ways to go after the bass. just dont forget about the ol kitty kitty fish. that is actually my favorite fish to go after.
good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
