What techniques should I use?

I am a bass fisherman from Massachusetts, and it is tough to find information about bass fishing in the northeast during the fall. My favorite body of water to fish, the Quabbin Reservoir, is going to close for the season soon, and I wanted to go out one more time. Last time I went out I had no success using my usual finesse worm and crank bait techniques. What should I be using at this point of the year, and I know to go deeper, but how deep should I fish? Thanks

Actually in the middle of summer and during the middle of the day go deep but in the fall as the water temps drop the bass realize that during the winter a good full stomach is far and few meals in between so they get really aggressive and my favorite time is dusk into dark using top water baits. pencil poppers, zara spooks, frogs, chuggers and my favorite lucky 13, they seem to love hearding shad into areas where they can’t escape like up against steep cliffs (drop offs under water) and inlets or bays. Have a great time.

the fish shouldn’t be down that deep unless its really hot or really cold.
Try different style rig’s like a Texas rigged or Carolina rigged.

how bout a larger sized buck tail? small spinner? a worm held up off the bottom could also work if you are fishing in reasonably shallow water

I am with misstray, try a bucktail jig they seem to excel in cold water. Also try a drop shot rig.

Drop shot any bait and then just barely jig it. I mean barely. If you’re in a spot that looks like it should be holding fish, keep doing it. Most anglers don’t have the patience to do this but it has really increased the quality of my catch.
