whats better for catching big large mouth bass, normal fishing or fly fishing, and also bait?
what bait will be good also? i tried shrimp, bread, and corn. is there something im doing wrong?

i never fly fished before but normal fishing for bass is hella fun. Try getting some fake plastic worms, some hooks and weights.
The thing about food as lures is when the bass aren’t hungry, they aren’t gonna bite it. but with fake worms and you casting them around the bass, they get pissed and attack it even when not hungry.
Bass are very aggressive.
Yea go with some plastic worms or lizards. Don’t use those baits you mentioned bass usually don’t bite those. Fly fishing for bass seems to be counter productive seeing that the biggest part of bass fishing is putting and keeping the bait in the strike zone and I dont see how productive that is when you keep pulling the bait away as in fly fishing. Start with some soft plastics but if you want to go to live baits use large minnows or even some of the Berkley Gulp plastic baits.
ilike plastic worms, but a really sure way to catch some biggens are –live shiners you will have other fresh water fish go after them also, cat fish, peacock-bass- just grab a bucket and abox of o-tabbs, they will keep your bait alive. or get a air adgertater, they do a great job, . go hooken and have some fun. , release them un-hurt so they can make us some more good fishing,.
I`ve never tried to bass fish with a fly…..
but normal- i know they`ll bite that!
Try this rig out:
1st:
get about a 12lb test line,
2nd:
get a bullet weight, (you know, the ones that slide up and down) It doesn`t really matter what size, just as long as it`s not giant.
3rd:
put a hook on that`s a size one with a Sproat bend. This works really well.
4th:
Tie a carolina knot. (I use this knot all the time, it works great for almost any kind of fishing, especially bass fishing because you don`t have to use very heavy line, especially when you`re used to 80-100 lb line offshore saltwater!)

5th:
Bait
This is where you choose. There are so many different types of bait! Experiment! My favorite is any type of plastic worm. Just try anything. Or even ask your locals!
-most of all, hope this helped and have fun fishing!!!!
I have to echo what others are saying about plastic worms. I’ve been fishing with them most of my life. However I went fishing last night and could not get a hit to save my soul. So I went to a short fat diving crank bait. Nothing really big but we had a blast. Now isn’t that what it’s all about? Have fun going after ole bucket mouth.
The BEST big Bass bait , (that is easily found), is a 6-8″ Shiner.
Most bait & tackle shops will have Shiners, (unless it’s a Saltwater shop).
The MOST productive lure for Bass (for the past 40 years) has been the plastic worm. You will always catch fish using a worm. Here are some examples of good Soft Plastic worms-
1. Senko- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58909_100007007_100000000_100007000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL
2. Ribbon-tailed worm- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_38256_100007001_100000000_100007000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL
3. Shakey/Straight-tail worm- http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98297_100007000_100000000_100007000_100-7-0
Try these in basic colors like Black, Red Shad, Watermelon, Pumpkinseed, Motoroil, and Blue/Black. All 3 can be rigged “Texas Rigged”, “Wacky Rigged” or “Carolina Rigged”, (google each “rig” to find out how to make and use them).
You will need a “Offset EWG hook” for the Texas rig, a “Wacky Rig Hook” for the Wacky, and a “Shakey Head Jig” for the Straight-tail/Shakey Rig.
I can almost guarantee that one of the above will catch any Bass you are fishing for.
Fly’s DO work for Bass and can be very effective when they are feeding on small larvae & minnows. BUT, more Bass are taken on Soft Plastic lures than any other presentation.
Bass won’t strike bread or corn and will only hit Shrimp if your fishing in a brackish water tidal influenced environment.
Hope this helps? Good luck!
Generally the bigger the bait the bigger the fish. While Bass do hit flies they are much more interested in bait fish. I recommend normal (baitcasting) for catching large bass.
Define this “normal” you’re talking about in fishing…
id use normal fishing. use bass hooks nd the rubber worms
