Recently, I had the pleasure of getting to know a really nice girl who recently immigrated to this country from Serbia.

When it became clear that she was becoming interested in me, I attempted to cover up some of my Redneck tendencies in an attempt to appear more sophisticated and hopefully impress her. This included removing the gun rack from my truck (even though it only contained my fishing gear), not playing the usual country music selection on my trucks radio when she asked me to give her a ride to school, taking the buck heads off my walls (in case she ever came inside), suppressing the urge to hit my “General Lee” truck horn, and attempting to avoid wearing anything from Bass-Pro Shops, Cabelas, camouflage, and anything that featured the Confederate flag when she might be around (such items constituted the majority of my off-work wardrobe).
Also, when I asked her out for the first time, I invited her to the Olive-Garden and not to one of the “finer” establishments like ‘The Rattle Snake’ (a bar where a girl can get two free drinks by removing her bra and a night of free drinks for removing her shirt).

Thus, I was greatly surprised to learn on our first date that the very things I had been attempting to cover up were the things she found interesting and that she was a huge Skynard fan, loved Honkey Tonks (we went to the Rattle Snake latter that evening), and had enjoyed watching the Dukes of Hazard when she was in Serbia.

For our next get-together, I took her to the 4th of July fair where there was mud-bogging, a demolition-derby, (both of which she really enjoyed) and where she asked me to win her a Confederate Flag tank top at one of the booths.
While she is one of the better examples of this trend, I’ve noticed that many of the people immigrating to this country seem to be bigger Rednecks then myself (and that’s hard to do), leading me to wonder if the majority of the people in the world are Rednecks, or if the majority of the world’s rednecks are attempting to come to this country???
