ive been bass fishing for over 30 years.usually 2 to 3 times a week.when i fishing this rig a let is fall then bring the worm up of the bottom a few inches maybe 4 to 7 inches then leting it fall again.ive been seeing the pro’s shaking there texas style worm.fast little twitches of the rod whats going on with this.are they doing this now instead of the old technique that has always worked for me?

you are doin fine keep up and catch a big one
There is no right nor wrong way to fish a Texas-rigged worm.
How the fish react will tell you the best retrieve.
The slight lift & fall retrieve is probably the most common. But if the fish don’t hit on that, vary it and see what happens.
The shaking technique basically keeps the worm in one place, but has it moving. This seems to simulate something edible, but in trouble—an amost sure-fire trigger for bass.
One time, in Florida, nothing seemed to work. Then we hit on a sliding action. Basically, you crawl the worm along the bottom, with no lift. That day the fish couldn’t resist it.
Still another technique, particularly in colder weather, is a variation of Carolina rigging. Use a Texas rig, and cast it so it actually hit standing timber with some force. Leave enough slack so the worm drops down the trunk. Bass most often hit this one on the drop, so stay alert.
Best bet is to continue with the method you are using. If nothing happens, vary the retrieve. If still nothing, switch to another bait.
its because they have theirs carolina rigged
They are doing something called “shaky head fishing” where you use a straight finesse worm and a jig head. Rig it weedless, and let it fall to the bottom – then you give it some shakes, let it set, reel in the slack, and do it again. I’ve not had much success with it, but I haven’t tried it very much. Here are a couple of links where they talk about it.
no ur doing it right. you catch bass both ways. my friend and his dad go all the time and catch like 7 pound bass with the texas rig. and do you have to be on a baot to use it? cuz i kept trying the texas rig and im using it on land and never catch anything
Sometimes bass like a bottom bouncing technique, sometimes a swimming technique, sometimes they like it slow falling while other times you may have to deadstick the worm…..keep trying different ways until you are catching fish….let the bass tell you what they want.
A fisherman that fishes the same exact way every time out for thirty years is only going to be successfull when that particular technique is on…..be versatile, fish shallow in summer, deep in the fall. pay attention to weather patterns TEMPERATURE and the barometer….different conditions call for different techniques.

THE WAY YOU ARE WORKING A TEXAS RIG IS CORRECT ! WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IS CALLED A SKAKEY HEAD– A BALL HEAD JIG WITH JUST A SMALL FINESSE WORM ( NO SKIRT ) I T STANDS ON IT’S HEAD WITH TAIL UP WITH LITTLE SHAKES OF THE ROD TIP THE WORM “DANCES” ON THE BOTTOM IN ONE SPOT FOR FINIKY FISH ! HENSE THE NAME ” SHAKEY HEAD “
