Bass Pro Shops Signature Series Fishing Baitcasting Reels. Does anyone know what the buttons do?

Flipping button. is usually on the top right hand side of the reel, same side as the star drag.
When you activate it and press down on the bar to make a cast the min. you let go of the bar, the cast is stopped.
Not very useful in my book, one more thing to go wrong with them.
Just get you a plain bait casting reel, without that button.
Now if its the one on the right (right handed reel) next to the star drag, that is what is used to add resistance to the spool during the cast, and hopefully will prevent back lashes.
The one on the left hand side of the reel is the magnetic spool speed control, and adjusts spool speed when the cast is first started.

Not much to add from GoldenFeathers answer, that is pretty much it… if you are just getting started with baitcasters, spend a little time in the back yard just practicing with cheap fishing line at first, that way hopefully you will get the kinks and bad spots in the cheap line, then replace when it’s game time…. also, you may want to start with a less expensive reel. they will function perfectly for a beginner until you start free spooling more (no or little magnetic brake or spool tension set)… the bass pro reel is, in my opinion, the best reel on the market for that price, I don’t think anything comes close, I have 4 of them on the boat at all times, and they operate perfectly…

    Good Luck Out There!!
