Best place to buy fishing lures?

or tackle, whatever it’s called.. My boyfriend is an avid fisher, specifically Bass. I know he fishes for just about anything, but Bass is at the top of his list. I wanted to get him something for his birthday but I’m thinking of just getting him a gift card to Cabela’s or Bass Pro or something along those lines. I want to make it worth my money and have him still find stuff he can use. Where is the best place to go?!

a gift card would probably be the best but for bass fishing soft plastics are one of my favorite lures and the can be found at both cabelas and bass pro shop i think he is pretty lucky that you show interest to get him what he likes

if you decide to buy a giftcard for him and want to make his eyes wide and him act like a kid, take him to a bass pro or cabelas store. If you do plan on taking him to a physical store then search your zip on cabelas and bass pro’s website. I live in the south east and there isn’t a cabelas for a long way, so I would be stuck buying online which is really not that fun when you can go into a 2 story building with thousands of baits. if you live in the SE buy a bass pro. Both are probably about the cheapest you will find. Another great idea is find a local bait and tackle store and go in and check prices against Bass Pro. I work in a bait and tackle store and i know we sell most stuff for cheaper than bass pro. Just so you know bait is what you are fishing with (a worm, jig, really whatever is on the hook) and tackle is things like your rod, reel, sinkers, floats, etc. hope this helps. :)

I agree get a gift card I worked in a fishing department at Dicks for a long time, and time after time I have seen g/f and wives try to buy stuff, and it just doesnt work. So dont be offended if you go to a sporting good store and the sales person suggest a gift card and acts like he cant help you. YOU ARNT GOING TO “GET IT” IF YOU DONT FISH OR NO HOW.

Baits/ lures/ etc I like to buy at all the sporting goods stores when they are marked down to 50% or more after Christmas. At Sport’s Authority I have bought rapallas for $1.79 Big deep diving fat and shad raps at 70% off. Plastics I buy direct from the manufacturers. Lead heads, fresh water hooks, Smelly Jelly and some exclusive baits, most terminal tackle I buy from Cabela’s. As far as rods, line, weights, and most all saltwater hooks, baits, boxes, packs, clothing and shoes basically I get from B P S

Bass Pro Shops has many more retail stores to go and actually shop physically in and over all BPS is the best.

go to Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops and ask for a good bass reel around the price you want. Or if you can’t find one that you like just simply get him a gift card with a decent amount of money in it. If you buy a gift try to make him excited like choosing the design on the card or be creative. You can also get him a some new Equipment such as the reel or etc. and add a gift card to it. Hope I helped!

BPS or Cabelas are both good places to shop. A gift card at either store would be fine. Both company’s have approx the same “branded” lures & tackle.

However, in my opinion, if your BF is in search of a new rod & reel Cabelas has better deals on Rods & Reels.

Their “Bargain Cave” online has some fantastic values on rods/reels and occasionally the stores will allow customers the “online BC price”.

Here is a link to the online “bargain cave” for rods- http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/subcategory/subcategory-index.jsp.4_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21404&returnPage=&rid=&returnQueryString=&navAction=push&navCount=0&parentId=&id=cat21428&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406

Notice the Cabelas Mag Touch rod on sale for $44, (normally selling for $100). Also notice all the other rods currently on sale.

Although BPS does have their own brand of quality rods, they aren’t in the same league as the Mag Touch Series from Cabelas, (esp at $44!!!!!!!!!!!).

So if your BF is in the market to upgrade a rod or two I would choose Cabelas over BPS.

Hope this extra info helps ya? Good luck in your search.

There are 3 places online that I like to go to.

    1. Tacklewarehouse.com- They have more hard to find west coast and Japanese made tackle. I really like them and I think they have gift cards. You can only spend online unless you go to the store in California.

    2. Lurenet.com- This is the PRADCO direct site that has Heddon, Bomber, Rebel, YUM, Cotton Cordell, Booyah, and others. they are a bit pricey but have colors you cant find in other stores. I like to keep up with there Internet Specials section on the site you can get good deals more than 50% off good stuff.

    3. Basspro.com- Bass Pro Shops website. They have gift cards that can be redeemed on the website and stores. They also have a catalog.

I have done a lot of buisness with these 3 sites over the last 2 years and have never had a problem.

I do shop both places you mentioned but if I can find it at Wal-Mart I get it there instead.
If he is just starting out he can find all he needs at Wally World and your money will go farther.
