Bill Dance Porcupine Fish Habitat?
Has anybody used one of these or something similar by chance? I ran across one at Bass Pro and they seem like a good idea but then again maybe not. I don’t see why a normal brush pile wouldn’t do any better but I could be wrong having never used anything like this.

I never buy that junk, i just sink my christmas tree into the lake at my favorite fishing spot.
Just use a tree
something a plumber friend of mine does is takes out old sinks and toilets to create a reef every time he puts his boat in the water. Old wheels, tires, broken aluminum ladders found along side the road. This is all free stuff never give someone a cent when they are selling stuff found for free, it’s like paying for road kill. You just don’t do it.
One of the main ideas is to put them in discreet locations where other anglers wouldn’t know that they are there. That way it becomes your very own secret spot. Normal brush piles would do, but other anglers may usually know where those spots are and tend to fish those spots out. Also, if the water you are fishing at has very little to no structure, these can be like fish magnets. I’ve never used one myself although I have thought about it.
If you want to save yourself some money, you can just as well make your own fish habitat structure with stuff you might already have lying around at home. Get a bucket and poke or drill some holes through it. Run some pvc pipes or tree branches through it, then weigh it down with rocks or some cement.
some of these habitats are made from recycled fishing line and last nearly forever. they are excellent fish attracting devices, will outlast old christmas trees by decades, can be stacked, algae and stuff soon grows on them making them better and better.
there are a number of styles sold and many lakes use these and similar devices as artificial structure.
a normal brush pile is in fact very good if not even better but don’t last anywhere near as long.
also, some of these have more flexible “limbs” that will move and allow your lure to pass through with fewer hang-ups.
