  • FishSteelhead:

For prices ya’ can’t beat em’ and yes the have quality brand names. The BIG plus one saves is the D _ _ N S&H charges when orderin’ online!!x!%!! Go for it. “Tight lines”, back at ya” ;) … < ' (( ( > < Here's their link showin' what they offer, however the store itself has much more of a selection.

Yes wal-mart carries a huge selection of fishing gear and it’s fairly reasonable too If i was you i would whip on over and get him a few nice fishing items for his b-day

  • Dane Cruz:

Yes, they carry fishing gear, and their everyday prices are better than Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s. You do have to realize though, they have nowhere near the selection that you will find with the other guys that specialize in fishing. They do carry good brands, Abu Garcia, Mitchell, Daiwa, Berkley, Rapala, Cotton Cordell. You can probably find everything you need there, they even have polorized sunglasses, fish finders, scales, tackle boxes, nets, attractants and so much more!

  • AIRFLOW:

they sure do, you can order on lien or visit your local store, the gear is pretty much the same as what you get at bass pro although the amount is limited, the price is good however, may i suggest cabelas if you cant find what you need, they offer fast shipping and the service is the best Ive found

walmart has everything that a person needs to catch fish with

I buy all my fishing equipment from Wallmart.

Never use the line that comes with the real…that’s cheap line.

For around $30.00 you can buy a decent combo rod & reel.

If your Bass fishing you want a straight shaft rod no seperation in the middle and heavy duty at that.

  • just wonderin:

yes, wall mart had a fair selection…..check for clearance items, they are usually half price, sometimes much less. they have a fair selection. fishing rod/reels combos start at about 19 dollars and up depending. k marts also have some gear, but a smaller selection, again look for clearance items. good luck

  • rapture:

They have some decent stuff as far as lures go but i wouldnt buy my rods n reels there. thier prices are the same as if you went to BPS

Good luck and let the big ones go!!!

What alot of people don’t know is that Walmart does carry some good fishing gear and fishing supplies. The pricing all depends on where you are. If your Walmart is in a tourist area, expect to pay a bit more. Then you have to consider if it’s worth travelling 5 extra miles or what not to save that extra dollar with todays gas prices.
There are several tricks with Walmart that you can use to save money.
    1) Have an insider. Making a friend in the fishing department will get you those up coming clearance sales and so on.
    2) Buy ahead. Most walmarts get rid of overstock items per season. During the spring, they get rid of winter stock. During the summer they get rid of both if no one has bought them all. Stock up and use them for the following season.
    3) 24 hour stores have secret sales usually around midnight thru 3-4 in the morn. Check your store for details.
    4) Most fishing departments have a clearance wall, they like to hide them towards the cash register somewhere ( so that you’ll walk the entire length in hopes of impulse buys and so on) so search the entire section and keep your impulses to a minimum.

Walmart doesn’t have a huge selection like a bass pro shop but you can find decent fishing gear there.

Basics only, they have a really crappy selection of baits.

Fishing is big business here, but walmart has the same tired baits every year.. they never have the right types of baits in the hot colors.

  • Snipergurl S:

Yes, Wal-Mart does carry fishing gear. Actually, they carry a variety of different big names. Shimano, Ugly Stik, Storm, Rapala- just to name a few.

I buy most of my fishing gear from Wal-mart. They are being sold at a great price and clearance prices are even better!!

I’ve been to some big sports warehouse stores and nothing beats the prices at Wal-Mart.

I think I may have to add some new lures to the tackle box this weekend!!

    Happy fishing!!!

Hit up wal mart the have great fishing stuff thoug its kind expensive. if u get any rods get Shakespeare uglysticks and ask the people working there for assistance the usually know what the are talking about. and be ware of the rod and reel combos in the plastic packages sold together. they are good for beginners but a bit more experienced fishermen should not get them. and the advice chimp dancer gave is very good so listen to him

  • fmagellan74:

There is a Cabelas and a Wal-Mart right next to each other where I live. I don’t buy any fishing stuff at Cabelas. I go nextdoor to Wally World. Much cheaper for the same stuff. When it comes to fishing, Wal-Mart can’t be beat.

Anyone that says Wal-Mart is expensive is nuts. Example: Joe’s Flies at Cabelas—-> $4.99
    Joe’s Flies at Wal-Mart—-> $3.49
