fathers 49th birthday, i need a gift!?

his birthday is on saturday the 18th. my dad is kinda into fishing and golf, and usually i get him a gift card to places like bass pro shop or dick’s sporting goods. after the years have gone by though, i’m tired of gift cards. he doesn’t like coffee – and i’m not old enough to buy him liquor. maybe if you like to fish or golf – is there anything on the market you’ve seen and wanted? help!

Depending on your budget, you could get him a new set of clubs, or a box of nice golf balls. Or buy some bait and take him fishing somewhere, or take him to the driving range. Maybe a card saying happy birthday to go with your ensemble.
try a fly-tying kit and do it together with him
do you ever go golfing or fishing with him. Maybe you should plan some time for you two to do one of those things together. You could pay any expenses of course.

Ok, how about this: Bake him a birthday cake (Your dad will think it’s special just for the fact that you made it yourself!) then top the cake with 49 golf tees (they’re cheap) instead of candles, and hot-glue different colored golf balls atop some of the tees, in a pleasing pattern. Then, for a “birthday hat”, you could give him a visor for golfing, but first use a marker or fabric paint to personalize it by writing his name on the brim.
Fathers are always notoriously difficult to buy gifts for.
