Fav. plastic worm color, brand, size. for BASS and ways to rig them besides texas and carolina?
im rather new to fishing and would like some insight from the “pros” i mainly pond fish and small lake fish, the ponds are heavily fished! and small. if there are any secret baits you like to use for bass and would like to share feel free!

I like to use a green worm with gold flakes in it. It is made by Culprit and is seven and a half inches long. I rig it with no weight and stick the hook inside the body.
Brands – Prowler, Yum, Zoom, Berkley.
Size – 6″ threw 10″…right now in summer time in my area, most bass fishing is done with a 10″ worm.
Colors – Black/ Blue Flake, June Bug, Watermelon, Tequila/Green Flake are the ones I use most this time of year.
Main stay right now is a Berkley 10″ Power Worm Black/Blue Fleck or same worm in Black.
Always rig mine either Texas rigged sliding sinker or pegged, depends on the cover or C rigged.
Have even caught fish on a 3/4 oz football head jig with a 10″ for the trailer.
Small heavily fished lake…Try a shaky head worm with either a 4 or 6″ watermelon seed straight tailed worm.
Could also try a wacky rig using a zoom 6″ trick worm in watermelon seed.
Here is a link to some articles of fishing worms that will give you more insight than I can here.

You can also try typing in your own key words and see what you get back as well.
Good Luck and tight lines
I like to use midnight blue for worms rigged texas style, if you have access to floating worms you would want to try the “Shakyhead” rig… basicly it is a worm rigged texas style with a jig head instead of a worm hook, but most important you need a floating worm…..don’t worry the rig will sink..
try the worminator or roboworms on yahoo for floating worms….the rig looks alot better than a worm on the bottom….
In farm ponds, I use maroon and black 7″ worms made by culprit.
best colors are, june bug, watermelon seed, watermelon red, watermelen candy. other ways to rig worms would be the wacky rig where you hook the worm straigh through the middle with no weight. good methods for catching bass zoom flukes in the above colors fished on a 4/0 offset owner hook. and senkos rigged texas style with no weight. fish with a deadstick method. also get ya some zoom horny toads fished on the same style of hook. swim it accross vegatation, sticks, reeds on top youll be amazed how deadly they can be.
I will be using to size worms a 4″ purple Stutsie and a 7″ floater in limeneon and in deep purple!
Nose hooked with size #8 for 4″ worm and a size #4 short shank live bait hook from gamakatzu with a swivel!
This has been a very good method for me to take many bass with over the years!I use light line for open area’s and braided line for those thick spots. You can cast an retieve or shake an twitch this rig for some fine action!
I learned this method from my dad over 30 years ago and it still works great.(he used live worms though)
yum dinger “5″ watermelon seed best worm out there and it’s way better then senkos and they’re the worm that will last longer than any other brand
