How do you use a lure?

If you want me to re-post the question with the kures I have I will. I have a huge variety of different lures and I buy them at Bass Pro all the time and yet I never use hem because I’ve never caught a fish with them before! For all my lures I’ve done this: Reel three to four strokes, then count to ten, then reel three to four stokes and so on.

very vague question, yes please repost this with the type of lures u are speaking of

  • ljbaker5@verizon.net:

You have to know what type of lure you are using. If top water reel steady and from side to side to look like its swimming . some bottom rigs you use a jerking motion up and down as you reel to create the wounded look others reel at different speed. JUST KEEP PRACTICING

  • Ryan:

The best place to learn how to use all the different lures is the bass pro shops fishing library on their website. It is great for learning all the techniques and tricks.
Just go to http://www.basspro.com and click “outdoor library” under the community column on the left side.
    Good luck

This strategy may work for some lures…..but not for all of them.

Jigs-They involve a kind of dropping movement and then pulled back up then fall then lifted up. Fish most likely bite on the down part.

crankbaits&poppers-involve jerks and maybe a slow(SLOW) retrieval. This method is mostly used for basically all other lures.

Please tell me your llures so I may properly help.

Hope I am an assistance to you!

Happy trails and a fisherman’s luck!
