is my fishing reel supposed to make bearing noises its brand new i bought it yesterday?
its a quantum bill dance low profile bait cast reel i bought it at bass pro yesterday it sounds like something is stopping it or slowing it down
it only sounds when i cast it

Well, first thing is to go back to Bass Pro WITH THE RECEIPT and see what’s wrong. No, it shouldn’t make those sounds. It should be smooth in and smooth out. Maybe the line is messed up somewhere. That always sucks, but, it is an easy fix.
Very carefully, try adding some lubrication. If it still. makes noise, take it back, with a reciept & tell them you jsut want to swap out. You may just inspect & tighten all the screws you see, be sure it’s not just a loose screw on the handle or something.
perhaps the clicker is on, the clicker is what you turn on when your line is free spool after you cast out, when a fish takes the bait the reel will just sing!! I would check to see if yours just happens to be on.
Some of them are suposed to make a little nose but if it stated after you used it a few times try greasing the reels bearings.
If you just bought it, take it back. That particular reel shouldn’t have any bearing noise.
EDIT: After seeing your additional comment that it only makes noise when you cast. I have two Quantum Energy PT’s and a Tour PT. They do make noise when casting. If it’s kind of a “whizzing sound” that’s normal.
New reels are normally silent. If it’s making a clicking sound
switch the drag to the off position,if that don’t do it take it back. Bass pro has a pretty good exchange policy.
P.S test the new one at the store.
Naw, it should be silent. Take it back to bass pro and go to cabelas or an independent store and get a real reel.
i know wats wrong w/ it.
its a quantum bill dance combo.
not that quantums are bad, its a great brand,
just that is a cheap reel that just looks good becaus bill dance endorses it.
that noise is probably normal, but in a few weeks you will start noticing more problems
