U need to be using a 1:16 or 1:32 weight jig heads. This is the hook and jig head only. U then determine what kind of jig or skirt u want to put on the jig head. They have some jigs out made by Bobby Garland that really work great for crappies and bass. One of the best colors to use is called “Ghost”. It’s pretty much clear with a blueish tint to it and it has blue glitter inside of it also. There is another great bass jig out called a Super Fluke. They r white and about 4-5 inches long. They r made to resemble a shad. U would need to use a Carolina (or Texas) rig on these to fish them properly. When jig fishing for crappies or bass, simply let the jig sink; Give it a jerk or 2; Then start realing it in very slowly. U can also just let it in sink and jig it up and down. The Super Fluke is fished much a like a rubber worm. Cast it; Let it sink; Then give it a few quick jerks; Pull your rod up 3-4 feet; Wind up the slack up, and repeat process. They will usually “run” with it, taking the slack out of your line. Wait until the line is tight, and then really set the hook. My dad cught 25-30 Laremouth mouth yesterday and 350-400 crappies the day before. We leave and fish in NC. Hope these tips help u out….

    what size gulp minnows?
if they are 3″ or 4″ long, use a 1/4 to 3/8 oz or thereabouts leadhead painted to match the bait but a contrasting color would probably work, with a size 2 or larger light wire hook. NO skirt needed.
if they are smaller crappie size minnows, a little smaller hook and lighter leadhead.
just a regular, round head with a small (or no) barb to hold the bait on. a small drop of super glue will hold it.

these should work fine although they do have a larger hook.
