My fishing reel cover will not go back on!?
In April, I bought a shakespeare ladyfish fishing pole from Bass Pro Shops. The other day when I was fishing with it, the cover to the reel fell off and it will not go back on! I’m going fishing tomorrow and I really need an answer by then!

From your description, I am assuming the reel is a closed faced spinning reel. Take the cover and determine which side is the top by looking at any written name/logo or instructions which may be printed on the reel cover. (The reel name/model or manufacturer’s name is usually on top and centered.) Now look inside the cover to see if there is a threaded area which would indicate if the cover is screwed on like you would screw the lid onto a jar. If not, there should be two nodules or raised (slightly) knobs which will slip into appropriate notches; one on each side of the real. Slip the knobs into the slots with the top of the cover up and then give the cover a slight turn to the right which should lock it in place. You may also find a locking screw on the outside of the reel which will be about as big around as your little fingernail. The slot in it is designed to accept a coin as the screw driver. You can loosen or tighten this screw with a penny to hold the cover in place, or to remove it later when you clean the reel or add/change the fishing line. In any case, it should be a simple matter to look at the inside of the cover to see which of these three options is the one to apply. Good luck and good fishing.
Yes it will go back on. Take your time and look at the cover and the reel itself. It will only go on one way, slowly and carefully rotate the cover on the reel until it “falls” into the right position, twist and you have it..
Good luck.
What type of reel is it? without knowing i cant be of more help, however this is THE website for reels, just key in the product type and it will tell you where to go from there

happy fishing.
All good responses ~ just thought I’d add that if your reel is a Spincast (type with cover) that you thread the cap/cover back on Clockwise (rotating it to the right with the reel facing you). Sometimes them Spincasts reel covers can be sorta’ difficult, so if you have any WD-40 layin’ around, spray a weee’ bit onto the threads of the cap itself (threads on easier
). Hope this helps and you can get it back on before ya’ head ta’morrow;) < ' ( (( > < Note: Here be a link from Shakespeare for FAQ's...
