My dad and I, are recently looking into buying and aluminum boat to go fishing in. we’ve fished off the shore alot and havent had the best results and are really looking forward to fishing in a boat but don’t know if its worth the investment. please give me your pros and cons of buying an aluminum boat with a motor.

p.s. we like to fish for trout, bass mostly.

    pros:
an aluminum boat is lighter and easier to tow.
it requires less horsepower to move it.
    less expensive.
    cons:
noisy. any bump or something dropped is a lot louder under the water.
rivets can come loose. leak. so buy a welded one.

these are my main concerns. probably others.

pros : yea there cheaper dont require a huge motor and are great boats cons :you dont want to walk around in them the aluminum is very hot during the summer and very cold during the winter depending where you live and if you dropp things in the boats it is a lot louder underwater unless u have a carpet in side good luck aluminum boats are great though

hey there, if you are putting the boat in a pond, river, creek, body of waters like that then there are no cons. a aluminum jon boat is a light boat that is easily moved, hauled, and move around in the water just fine. if you have a motor that is off good size like a 9hp or above you can put that thing in bigger waters and have even more fun. jon boats are great boats and you will have no worries with it. man i hope this helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

My family just got an old aluminum boat from a relative that has past. We put a small gas motor on it and also an electric trolling motor. It works great on the lakes and ponds that we fish. It’s not as easy as a bass boat but it does the trick.

It is worth the investment. When fishing out of a boat it opens up hundreds of potential hot spots to fish in the lake that is inaccessible to someone bank fishing. You will be able to fish the islands, the drop offs, the submerged creek channels, the lily pads, the grass beds, the weed lines. the trees that are out in the water, the shoreline part of the lake that is inaccessible to walkers, the underwater humps that hold bass, the steeper banks with sharp drop offs, all the points in the lake will be accessible to you out of a boat.Is it worth the investment? If you like to fish it will triple your catch and triple your fun. Plus during certain times of the year the bass will school in several different places in the lake. These schools are not available to fish if you are walking the bank. Go with the boat!

Pros. They are light and easy to handle, take less horsepower to move.
Cons. They noisy with little movement from the fisherman.
