What tackle do I need?
Hey!
I need some help stocking my tackle box. I just really got into fishing this year so I need to get my tackle box stocked. Bass Pro shop is currently having a sale to where if I spend over 125 they will split the payments for 6 months so I have been working on placing an order.
I currently fishing in a murky lake. I have been using crank bait (XTS Minnows, Rapala Shad raps, etc). The other weekend I used jig heads with Gulp Shads and I liked that. So what would you suggest that I need for my tackle box. The fish that in the lake are Northern Pike, Walleye, and silver bass.
I currently have some 1/16 & 1/8 red hook jig heads, several bags of Gulp, Siren Sonic Braid (30 lb / 8lb dia), a few Cotton Cordell Grappers.
So I know this is a very general questions but what would you add in case went to fish in other conditions. I know i need some leaders so the line is not as visible since braid is more visible but I need to do more research on how to use them. What would you suggest? Thanks
This is what I have so far:
* Cotton Cordell® Grappler Shad x 4
* Worden’s® Original Rooster Tail x 7 (3 x 1/8 (Flame, flash red, Chartreuse), 4 x 1/4 (Chartreuse, rainbow, flame)
* Cotton Cordell® Super Spot® Lipless Crankbaits x 5 (1/4 oz bleeding shad, 3 x 1/2 oz – Bleeding shad, Gold Bar, and Green Shad) 3/4 Firetiger
* Berkley Gulp (3″ minnows -Chartreuse, Pearl Silver, Green Chartruese / 4″ minnows – Chartreuse
* Rapala® Jointed Shad Rap® – JSR07 – Baby Bass
* Jigheads – 1/16 oz. & 1/8 – Chartreuese/Black
* Stren® Sonic Braid Line – 30 lb./8 dia. – 125 yards
What else should I get? I know I need to get some spoons and probably some leader stuff since i’m using braid line.

ok its expensive but stok ure tackle box with gulp or any other berkly product gulp is amazing and it lasts forever for a soft bait and sence u said u just got into fishing u probly do no much about what type of fish u want to catch just anyfish right so if thats true or if its not get a jig that has the rubber skirt http://www.probass.net/protips/Articles/images/JigX.jpg
if u get one thats is blue and sparkly i guess then get a SPIKE GLO FIRE RED thing it is about the same size as one of those 5 hour energy bottles and dip the tail of a pink worm in ant put that on the hook and i garenty u will catch a fish with that combo of smell of garlic rattleing sound skirt flying and sparkling paint
ok if you are going to spend 125$ then you can probably get a little of everything. but what i would get just to have in there is
a few of snelled fish hooks
a yellow and black or a yellow and red (red devil) spoon in a couple of sizes
a red mepps aglia spinner in a couple of sizes
oh and some fish love cheese so go buy a few cheese hooks and some power bait
thats a few things that i would get
You want to be able to cover the water column and you said the lake is murky so you don’t need to worry about leaders. Take a black magic marker and add some dashes on your line for the first 10 feet, you wi
since ur just gettiing into fishing i recomened a spinnerbait crankbait some rapalas and my altime favorite bait the gary yamamoto senko rig it wackey or weedless on a gamagasue hook i dont know what colar work in that lake but were i live u cant beat watermelon with black flake but get differend colars and c what colars work best for u good luck and good fishing
Northern Pike ~ Get you a few 3/4 or 1/2 oz. rooster tails. They make some rooster tails made for striped bass, but they will work very well for pike too. I’m not really a pike fisherman, and know only a little about them, so i would recommend doing some research on Google about them.
Walleye ~ Walleye like them some Shad Rap’s! Pick you up a couple Rapala Shad Rap’s in some natural shad patterns, then a few with a little bit of chartreuse on they’re back. You can also use some of those spinner rigs tipped with live bait.
Silver Bass ~ Small little mepps spinners work good for these feisty pan fish. Any kind of in-line spinner practically works. Small little 2″ grubs on jig heads work just as good as the in-line spinners. Use light action rods for these smallish fish.
Happy fishing.
