Why have pro bass fishmen become sooooo “DRAMA QUEENS” when landing or loosing a fish ?
sure $ is involved , but whats with this Tiger Woods fist-pumpin, kobe bryant mouth gaping, yelling like a animal over-dramatic iconeeli style behavior of “grown men” after catching a fish. Its akin to hunters apparent orgasms on camera after taking a 10 point buck on outdoor porno. I’ve hunted and fished all my life and never seen respectable GROWN men behave as these characters behave. its like watching WWF. If i want to see and endzone celebration I’d watch football. Anyone else tired of these behaviors ?
Tucker M, How would i feel? I’d feel sad but confident i could control my emotions enough to behave as a grown man, a true sportsman, not an emotional immature competator, then go onto the next cast

its called marketing….and ur right is all about the $$$ …..and i agree it’s stupid
Its because they love what they do,its because they want to be the best. Just think if your in 3rd place and you hook up with a good solid fish that would bump you in to 1st place, you get it to the boat and almost in the net and it comes off the hook….you were so close to all that fame, glory and big money and now you sit there and watch it all swim away. How would you feel? I know when i hook a nice solid fish i get crazy, my hands start to sweat, im yellin at others in the boat to get the net, and when i finally get the fish in the boat i get all shaky and i admire that fish, i cherish that moment. Knowing that big fish has been in the water a long time, probably survived alot of other catches, and survived predators, and now i was lucky enough to hook that monster. Its the excitement of knowing you have the fish of a life time, and that at any moment he could break your line, or break your rod. When theres money invovled, knowing that this fish is your paycheck and whether you land it or lose it, its all dramatic. These guys live to fish (some could say they fish to live), these are the guys who lay there heads down at night and can only think about hooking and fighting a good solid bass. These are the guys who are constantly thinking of new ways to be the best, new ways to catch more bigger fish. These guys love it so much just for the simple fact that there outdoors, out on that water with mother nature doing what they love to do….fishing!
The simple answer is the ham comes out in people when the cameras are turned on. It also improves their marketability when it comes to sponsorships. It also increases the ratings of the televised fishing shows to a small extent. In other words hamming it up and money seems to be the reasons. And it is stupid to me. But I can’t speak for everyone. But if you will notice the cameras always seem to give the emoters more camera time. And they seem to be competing for camera time.
DD is right, (thumbs up).
It ALL has to do with marketing. The more “antics” and “emotion” you display the more camera time you get. More camera time equals “opportunity”.
Have you ever notice how LITTLE coverage some of the best Pro’s receive who don’t “act a fool”?
I have been tired of the behavior for years…………….It’s a disgrace.
(When Ike first hit the trail and was “break dancing” on the deck of his boat, it would not have surprised me if , after catching a good fish, he whipped his other “rod” out and started “going to town” on it! Although Ike is a good fisherman, I consider his displays to be the beginning of the end for “respectful Tourney manners”.)
Thumbs to DD.
You dont share the same passion for what they do.
