An 8lb bass is a nice size bass anywhere you catch one however they are not uncommon in the world of bass fishing. If you want to exploit a large bass for financial gain it is going to have to be caught in a sanctioned event such as a B.A.S.S. or FLW tourney. Otherwise your only chance would be to catch the worlds largest bass. The current world record largemouth bass is 22lb 4 oz caught almost 75 years ago. Mr. George Perry that caught the fish received $75 worth of sporting equipment for this feat. While that was a good deal of money back in 1932, today a bass of that size could be worth millions of dollars to whoever catches it. Your >8lb bass won’t bring $$$$ otherwise.

Here is the story on Mr. Perry and the Worlds Record Bass. http://www.mrlurebox.com/GeorgePerryBass.htm

Bass Pro and Cabelas will pay money for some related items, mostly old, very well taken care of things like boat motors, classic lures, rods, guns, pictures/posters. Most of thier taxidermy items (deer, fish, etc.) are either donations or reproductions. If your 8lb bass came from a specific lake or river, you might try getting it weighed on certified scales and could become a record for that body of water. Also, if you used live bait from a bait store, they will userally be more than happy to put a picture up in the store.

No they won’t. Invite a couple friends over for a fish fry. Make them supply the brewski’s.
You could post a picture on Yahoo! Photos of you holding yur fish.
