Feeding My Largemouth Bass And Tiger Oscar

A video of my Largemouth Bass and Tiger Oscar. I feed the freeze-dried krill. The Bass and the Oscar get along and I have NEVER had a fight. Don’t tell me my tank is too small or that my water is cloudy, its my camera and the light reflecting off the white gravel. I have had the Bass for about 6 and a half months but I caught it from that years spawn so it might be 8 or 9 months old.

oscars have the coolest personalities i had mine for years…..but i never attempted to put any other fish in with him because they have been known to be very agressive with other fish and will even kill another oscar….you seem to have gotten lucky with a little less agressive oscar

holy shit is that a big mouth or what LOL!!!

  • SlyClay117:

Nice fish, I’ve stopped keeping bass and instead focus on smaller guys like bluegill and green sunfish. Why? They’re tank-busters. Just like oscars. They need a lot ‘elbow room’ and eat like a mastiff and crap like one. But at least they let live plants continue living in relative peace. Anyway, awesome carnivores and nice tank!

@MegaBasspro123 So you mean you just want to have a pumpkinseed tank? 180 would defiantly be enough for quite a few of them. 4 or 5 full grown ones probably could live comfortably in a 180.

  • MegaBasspro123:

@phgHunter thinking of cutting the pumpkinseeds altogether

  • phgHunter:

Well you may have to get rid of one lmb after a while because they DO get big. It could get a little crouded with 2 pumpkin seeds and 2 Oscars and 2 bass. Just to be safe I would get one Oscar and one bass. 180 is pretty big so you might be able to do it with two of each but I am not sure. I feed them freeze dried krill and freeze dried blood worms. I let the bass go because it got too big.

  • MegaBasspro123:

    what do ya feed them?

  • MegaBasspro123:

out of curiousity. could i keep 1 or 2 lmbs with 2 oscars with 2 pumpkinseed sunfish in an 180 gallon tank? just curious

  • phgHunter:

Studies show that they thrive at about 82 F.

  • kcamerons:

@phgHunter isnt that really warm for a LMB? I know they can tolerate high heat but is it ideal?

  • phgHunter:

You would have to catch one. I guess you could buy on from a company that spawns them to stock in ponds but you probably couldn’t just get one fish.

  • punkrocker21292:

Where could i get a bass lol =]

  • asianRSXdriver91:

man i miss my bass shit hahah

  • phgHunter:

85 F in the summer and in the winter I put another heater in and crank both of them and it is about 75. I made the mistake of putting my tank in front of a window.

  • missman009:

    What’s your water temp?

  • Dtrovato19:

go check out my largemouth and rock bass destroying goldfish along with my other fish!

  • PHONZE45:

dude im so going to get a bass and put it in my tank

  • Fishen4life:

    how big is this tank?

  • AceofSpades462:

    probobly caught it

  • phgHunter:

Thanks. Let the bass go and the oscar is a bit bigger since I made this video.

  • mac6706:

Cool fish! One of my friends has a few oscars

  • shoey211:

you could feasibly but i wouldnt keep more than 1 oscar and 1 bass in a 55. you could grow them out to a considerable size, if you put the time and effort in with water changes religiously but in the long term i would go larger. but if you dont mind stunting them to 70-80% of their adult size than id do it.

  • phgHunter:

Yes, but one day you will probably have to let it go. They get huge.

  • hobomagic1:

COULD i PUT A LARGEMOUTH BASS IN A 55 GAL. LONG BY ITSELF?

  • phgHunter:

It depends. These two never fought but there is a good chance that if I got a new oscar and bass that they would.
