Soft plastics are great year around, difficult to master but when perfected you’ll pull good numbers. KVD just told you when to use them, anytime to see nats and and other top water activity,mornings/evenings,twitching,jerking. Watch and read Bassmasters.

60-80 degree water, overcast with a little wind, the heavier the wind the heavier the bait, spinnerbaits are great in wind, topwaters if its calm early or late, worms or jigs in the middle of the day, flipping or pitching, jigs are good around riprap, always kareen crankbaits off stuff like wood or rock
