Largemouth Bass Strike #1

Bass fishing in the oxbow has been fast lately. I have asked my son Andy to shadow me with the camera on a quick walk around the lake while I cast a scum frog at my high percentage spots. It’s cool that I got a strike on camera. The fish wasn’t too big but topwater action is exciting. Recorded on June 29, 2009 using a Flip Video camcorder.

should try som mister twister hawg frogs really great lures
I usually do. but this day the bass were super aggressive and all over the place shallow. I covered lots of shoreline taht day.
slow down the retrieve a little and pause here and there and you may trigger more fish to strike. good luck great video
I betcha any money that bass was just hugging tight to that log, The second I saw the frog go by the log I just said its gonna hit it right when it passes the log and whaddya know it did!
that took way to long to finally see the strike… but other than that it was pretty good.
That looks like good fun! We don’t have too many bass here in Scotland lol. I’ll have to stick to dry flies for my surface action!

agreed…your retrieve is TOO FAST…you have to give the fish a chance to view and strike the frog…ie JERK, JERK. pause 3 seconds…then JERK, JERK and pause..you will get more strikes!!!!
you need to pause it every so often!

those scum frogs work fantastic down here in lovely ft stewart ga. ggod to have your boy with you wish mine sparked an interest. hope you catch a lunker
what line were you using, and what time of the year was this?
You should check into getting a hat cam. This way you wouldn’t have to have someone else filming you when your fishing. All you would need is the hat to mount your Flip camcorder onto. If you interested you can shoot me a personal message. Great fish on topwater!
