BOWFINNING 2007 START OF THE YEAR

BOWFIN GAR AND MUDCATS WE CATCH EM ALL SOME SMALL BUT OTHERS BIG AS YOU WILL SEE

My best friend and I were fishing and I shot some footage. Jeffria catches a nice cat and a white bass then it’s some footage of barges, train bridges (Wabash), and Severstal (Idle) (Formerly Wheeling-Pitt) steel mill. I caught 4 smallmouth and Rettro caught 2 cat, 1 white bass, a sauger and a smallmouth. Cold windy frontal type day working for a big one. Happy to catch anything at all! Music is fittingly solo Neal Schon “Cover Me”. How about some footage of me bro? Peace

  • NCPIERMAN:

thanks for the info ill give em a try also i hear that wackie worms work for them, they will take almost any lure ya throw at them, but make sure they are good and strong or they will destroy them

  • kevinvande:

oh… you should try out the new STORM wildeye sunfish. they are like really good at catching bowfin. or tsunami saltwater shad with a flat tail. My friend threw a half eaten sunfish out in the water and caught a nice 6 or 7 pound bowfin. and that is pretty big to just be catching them in a bayou that is 100 yards long and 20 feet wide

  • NCPIERMAN:

dont use lures i mainly use cut frozen finger mullets from wally world or spanish sardines whole,i preffer live bait but ill use what i can get

  • kevinvande:

hey dude i catch them in my bayou in houston all the time… me and my friends have caught some really nice ones too just about as big as the ones you have… but it isnt always consistant so im wondering what kind of lure do you use?

  • bonafide1498:

In fisherman did a good article on them a while back and stated that they are “ancient” and can burrow down into mud and live indefinitely when water dries up in a pond or stream. They then come back up when water returns, much like some frogs. Strange fish.

  • BowfinMike:

Bowfin and AC/DC, throw in some cold beer; just don’t get any better. Nice pictures.

  • kolbinski:

I wonder if Angus Young ever caught a ‘fin. Nice fish man.

  • djbro16:

put a couple of bowfin in a 150 gal aquarium,.. and you have a cheap entertaining alternative of a garbage disposal

  • river3782:
